Habari za mchana? Well, at least it’s afternoon here! Yesterday was my birthday. No, I’m not going to tell you how old I am…although a lot of you probably already know. Yesterday was also my sister’s birthday. We are not twins but she was born on my second birthday. Interestingly enough, her youngest daughter was also born on her next-to-youngest daughter’s second birthday!
It was kind of a chaotic day between meetings, phone calls, trips to the store and our fun evening of “Mexican Train”, so I didn’t get to work on Swahili at all. This morning, however, I took the time to get on line and look up how to say “Happy Birthday” in Swahili. Are you ready? Here it is:
Furaha Ya Siku Ya Kuza Liwa!
It’s actually longer than the Russian! (С днем рождения!) 🙂
I was pretty impressed with the webpage that this came from, I even printed it out to keep. So, I thought I would share the link with you, in case you want to check it out! There are obviously some phrases that I won’t be using, but there are also phrases that I have already used and some that I am sure I will need. Hope you enjoy!
