Green Bean Project 2023 Theme and Goals

It’s November, and that means it’s Green Bean Project time! With everything that has happened over the last couple years and all that is going on now, I felt it would be good to start things out with an update video rather than just a letter or Facebook posts. It’s longer than most of the Green Bean Project videos I’ve done in the past, but that’s because there’s more to it than usual. I hope you’ll take the time to watch it, and, if you feel it is appropriate, to share it with others.

The Lord has been calling me (and FTN) back to simple things. I have been impressed of late of the beautiful, powerful ways God has used the simple things in the past. I see this, not just in my own past, but around the world in many cultures and nations and times. So, I’d like to invite you to step away from the social media side of the Green Bean Project and to simply stop and consider the amazing opportunity we have through it to impact the lives of women and children for Christ.

Now to the Green Bean Project 2023 goals!

Over the years, Forbid Them Not has sought to meet the practical needs of missionaries working with orphans. Through The Green Bean Project we have provided textbooks, school supplies, fabric, clothing, and small financial gifts to schools and children’s homes in Kenya and Asia. A couple of years ago, we added FTN’s local outreach to the project. Over the years, this ministry has provided food, tires, clothing, counsel, discipleship, and other assistance for multiple fatherless families. This year, we’re adding another ministry. Here are the needs and goals for this year:

Kenya:

The Children’s Home and Schools in Kenya have been granted approval to expand one of their schools to higher grades. In order to do this, they are required to have a computer education program. To meet the requirement they need laptops. This will cost approximately $2500.

Central Asia:

The children’s home in Central Asia always faces enormous expenses in the winter months, from school clothes to coal for heating. For now, this will be our main focus for the Central Asian part of the Green Bean Project. We’ve (logistically) had trouble connecting with the missionaries this year, and will share more specifics as the project unfolds.

Ukrainian Moms and Kids:

God has brought me in touch with a special couple and an opportunity to walk alongside them in reaching out to women struggling with raising their children after being separated from their husbands by the war in Ukraine. Sometimes this separation is because their husbands are fighting in the war, sometimes because the women and their children have had to flee as refuges to other parts of the country or world, and sometimes because these husbands and fathers have died. We will be working together to find ways to support and point these women and children to the Lord. The Green Bean Project portion for this ministry will go to helping meeting basic needs for these women and children.

FTN:

GBP funds for FTN always go to what we have normally called our Local Needs Fund. But, God has clearly brought us needs outside of the Billings area, and, in fact, at a national level. So, whatever comes in will go to our Special Needs Account and will cover needs both locally and in other areas of the state or country as the Lord brings them to us.

The Green Bean Project gives you an opportunity to help, and the confidence that 100% of what you give will go to these ministries and their specific needs. (Learn More)

How To Give

Paypal Donate Button

The Green Bean Match ($1.15) came about during the first Green Bean Project, when the contents of a green, bean-shaped coin purse were donated to the project. Often, groups will make multiple Green Bean Matches (one for each member of the group or family). While this may seem a small investment, it adds up!

Other Amounts. Perhaps the Lord has put a specific amount on your heart or an amount has come in through a love offering at your church. This amount can be added manually here.

(Giving in someone else’s name? Just fill out that information in the special instructions section.)
