Green Bean Project 2024 Theme and Goals

2024 Green Bean Project Video

It’s November, and that means it’s Green Bean Project time! This year’s theme is Season of Hope—and there are many good reasons for that! I’ve posted this year’s Green Bean Project video explaining all that is going on. But if you’d rather start by scanning through this year’s goals and opportunities, those are listed out on this page as well.

Much is happening and changing both for me (Rachel) and for FTN. I look forward to sharing those things over the next few weeks, but for today, I just want us to focus on this incredible Season of Hope!

I’ve spent a lot of time studying hope this year. Lamentations 3:21-26 struck me as I studied. We’re reassured there that we can find hope in waiting on the Lord. But we also discover from this same passage that the salvation of the Lord often comes when He works through His people! This is what the Green Bean Project gives us the opportunity to do! And this year, He’s opening a very special door through which to do it!

The above video is about 20 minutes long. (Just so you aren’t taken by surprise!) I hope it’s a blessing, and if you have any questions or thoughts, I’d love to hear from you. God has entrusted this wonderful opportunity to us. Let’s steward it well!

Now to the Green Bean Project 2024 goals!

Over the years, Forbid Them Not has sought to meet the practical needs of missionaries working with orphans. Through The Green Bean Project we have provided textbooks, school supplies, fabric, clothing, and small financial gifts to schools and children’s homes in Kenya and Asia. A couple of years ago, we added FTN’s local outreach to the project. Over the years, this ministry has provided food, tires, clothing, counsel, discipleship, and other assistance for multiple fatherless families. Last year, we added another ministry ministering to the needs of Ukrainian women raising their children alone due to the war. This year we have both some heavy and some exciting opportunities in which to be bearers of hope. Here are the needs and goals for 2024:

Kenya:

The Children’s Home and Schools in Kenya are being required to build a new kitchen and dining hall. The last time I was there, they were cooking for 250 children over an open fire on a daily basis! This is a genuine need!

Central Asia:

The children’s home in Central Asia always faces enormous expenses in the winter months, from school clothes to coal for heating. But they have also faced many medical cost over the last year. One of the children needs to travel to the States for surgery to remove brain tumors. This is an enormous cost and need and such an opportunity to bring hope to his life.

Ukraine and Ukrainian Refugees:

God has continued to grow the relationship with this incredible ministry! As we have prayed separately, we’ve discovered He is directing us in the same path at the same time. As a result, we are planning a survery trip into Ukraine sometime in the Spring of 2025. (I’ll share more about this in the days ahead, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter.) Before that, we’ll be meeting in Pensacola, FL to minister together and pray and plan for the upcoming trip. God has already in a very quiet, faithful way provided the funds for the trip to Pensacola and my portion of the travel expenses to Ukraine. The Green Bean Project portion for this ministry will go to helping meet the ministry related needs we encounter while we are there. I’ve sent the goal for this to equal at least my portion of the travel expenses. This puts our base GBP goal at $2500 per ministry.

FTN:

GBP funds for FTN go to our Special Needs account. God has brought us needs both inside and outside of the Billings area, and, in fact, at a national level. So, whatever comes in will cover needs both locally and in other areas of the state or country as the Lord brings them to us.

All of this puts this year’s goal at $10,000. I believe God can do this and more!

The Green Bean Project gives you an opportunity to help, and the confidence that 100% of what you give will go to these ministries and their specific needs. (Learn More)

How To Give

Paypal Donate Button

The Green Bean Match ($1.15) came about during the first Green Bean Project, when the contents of a green, bean-shaped coin purse were donated to the project. Often, groups will make multiple Green Bean Matches (one for each member of the group or family). While this may seem a small investment, it adds up!

Other Amounts. Perhaps the Lord has put a specific amount on your heart or an amount has come in through a love offering at your church. This amount can be added manually here.
