Over the years, FTN has carried out a great deal of ministry overseas, but we have also been working right here at home in Billings, MT. Our local outreach focuses on coming alongside of single moms, non-parental guardaians, foster families, and their children.
Approximately 31% of Montana’s children are growing up in single-parent homes. According to the census bureau, 41% of American children are born into single-parent homes. Yet statistics tell us that nationwide only 1% of churches have any type of outreach to single parents.
We want to see that change, and we want it to start here.
Since we began working locally in 2010, we have been able to set up a permanent clothing exchange for families in need as well as providing transportation to doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, and job training. We have sought to come alongside of the women we have worked with to offer a listening ear, counsel, assistance in various forms, and the love of Christ.
In late 2015, God provided an office space for the local ministry, which has allowed us to expand even further. We’re quickly outgrowing that space! Click here to find out about a new space we’d love to grow into!
In 2017, we were blessed with the opportunity to provide backpacks and school supplies for ten children in Yellowstone and Carbon Counties. At Christmas, we partnered with several churches and individuals to provide gift bags for eleven children. In 2018, the project provided supplies for 16 children in Billings and Miles City.
We would love to see this ministry grow to include:
• After-school tutoring and mentoring for the children
• Life-skills classes for mothers and teens, such as:
– Job Skills, how to both get and keep a job. Microsoft Office, etc.
– Budgeting and finances
– Long-term thinking and planning
– Cooking and other homemaking skills
– Basic Auto Maintenance
We currently have three areas in which we need help:
1. Prayer – Please, email us to become part of the prayer team.
2. Volunteers – We need workers who would be willing to invest their time in the lives of these women and children. If you would be interested in helping with a class, providing transportation, manning the clothing exchange, tutoring, mentoring, or any other aspect of this ministry please drop us a note or call us at 406-208-7332.
3. Partners – Until 2015, this ministry was primarily supported out of the personal funds of FTN staff. Little by little, we have seen churches and individuals partner with us to make a differnce. In order for FTN to grow, we need partners like you, who have a burden for these women, children, and families. Partners who would be willing to make regular investments in their lives and this ministry. Click here to learn more about how you can partner with us.
