When I think back over this year’s Green Bean Project, I am amazed at what God has done. We weren’t sure what to expect for the 2020 Green Bean Project because the year itself had been so different in so many ways. But we knew God would be faithful—and He was!
As you probably know by now, we had a lot planned for this year’s GBP, and I am so glad that God gave us the foresight to do much of it ahead of time. And I am so grateful for everyone who joined us for the online event! What a blessing it was to bring some rejoicing to our weary world!
A Few GBP Hurdles
We were up against many challenges, including the fact that Facebook had suspended our Fundraising accounts until we provided sufficient evidence of who we were, even though we had done this when we first started using their platform several years ago. (By the time it was all done, I provided around 30 pages of documentation over the course of three months!) That meant that Facebook donations weren’t really an option, even though in the past it HAS been our best option. But that problem was not too big for God. People found other ways to give.
Then there was COVID. The Green Bean Project started Nov. 1st, and I got sick November 20th. And I stayed sick. I didn’t successfully return to work until mid-January and even then it was only for half-days. This meant that the GBP pretty much had to go on auto-pilot. But so many people picked up the baton (not even knowing I was sick) and shared posts or created their own videos and spread the word. And they each did so in a way that was uplifting and an incredible blessing to those who saw their virtual Christmas Caroling. (You can see many of the videos at this link.) Thank you all!
In the end, the Lord brought in over $3200, and we were able to send each ministry $1088! This may not sound like much, but when you consider the year we’ve all had and the struggles we were all facing—I think it’s amazing.
God is good all the time, and all the time God is GOOD!
