Evidences of God’s Everlasting Love–2021 Green Bean Project
How deeply do you know God’s Everlasting Love? What evidences of it have you seen in your life, your family, and your ministry? This year, we are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Green Bean Project, and we can’t help but reflect on the ways we have seen God show His power, His care for the fatherless, and His everlasting love through this project. That’s why we’ve chosen the theme “Evidences of God’s Everlasting Love” for the 2021 Green Bean Project.
Over the next nine weeks, we’ll be looking back across the years at what God has done each year of the project. We’ll see the way God has taken small things and made them big. We’ll see the way He has taken disappointment and turned it into hope. We’ll see how He has been faithful to prove Himself strong.
Did You Know?
Did you know that FTN operates on a monthly budget the size of the average disability check? Did you know that every time we step out on a new project (Green Bean Project, Backpacks for Kids, Clothing Exchange, Bible Study Materials, etc.) we have done it with little to nothing in our pockets and our faith and hope firmly set on God’s ability to carry out what He has put in our hearts? Did you know that God has used this tiny ministry to raise nearly $18,000 over the last 10 years through the Green Bean Project? Did you know that as a result of the Green Bean Project approximately 80 children have received their full school supply list over the last four years? Did you know that these backpacks have opened doors to share Christ’s love with multiple families, some of which were hurting deeply? God uses small things!
2021 Green Bean Project
I am excited for this year’s Green Bean Project. As I looked over the past years, I thought it would be great to pass that $20,000 mark this year. But now, I’m going to ask you to go deeper.
While writing this, I received a letter from one of the missionaries listing the needs we will be focusing on this year. They aren’t extravagant. Nothing lavish or even simple “wish list” items. No, they are daily needs. Winter wear, mattresses for the children, craft supplies for the children. Things we use on a daily basis without giving it a second thought. I already know some of the needs the other missionaries have, and I know the needs FTN has.
So here is what I’m asking:
Will you take a little time, reflect on the ways God has shown His Everlasting Love to you, and prayerful ask what HE would have YOU do this year?
I ask this every year, but this year I sense that God wants to do something special and it starts with us asking Him how He wants to use us. I’d like to encourage you to think beyond whatever you have given in the past (maybe you haven’t given in the past, that’s okay!), is He calling you to trust Him for something more? Do you have something to invest beyond the Green Bean Project? Time? Talents, Knowledge, or Skill? Let’s end this year with our hearts open to His leading and begin 2022 on a new adventure with the God who has given us SO MANY Evidences of His Everlasting Love.
Please be watching for updates on our Facebook page! Each week we will have a video from an FTN curator who will tell the story of the “Year of the Week” and how God worked through the Green Bean Project to meet specific needs. We’ll also be sharing personal testimonies, testimonies of our missionaries, and testimonies of a few friends of FTN that reflect on the Evidences of God’s Everlasting Love in their lives! AND we’ll be asking for your stories too!
What an exciting way to end the year, reflecting on the power and everlasting love of our God. I can’t wait to get started!!!
This Year’s Needs
Kenya
- This ministry has grown from a school, to a school and children’s home, and from that churches are growing up. They need tents for their people to meet under and sound systems so they can hear. This need comes to about $3,000
Central Asia
- Mattresses – The children are sleeping on ten-year-old mattresses. They have found a good price, but it will still cost them about $1500 to replace 15 mattresses.
- Winter coats, hats, gloves, shoes, and boots.
- Every winter they have a need for coal to heat with.
Asia
- Again this year, they have asked that we give toward buying property to building a children’s home. (The children currently live in their home!) They are about 50% of the way there. A church has offered to match anything that comes in!! What an opportunity to make an impact!
FTN
- As always, funds will go to meeting needs in our local community as well as providing materials for Bible Studies and Discipleship.
